We invite you to drinks and canapés to launch The Emerald Phoenix CD: music by Brooke Green. At 6.30pm there will be a short concert by Josie and The Emeralds: Josie Ryan (soprano); Brooke Green, Laura Moore, Catherine Upex, Laura Vaughan (viols); Simon Martyn-Ellis (theorbo). CDs will be available for purchase.

Lucy, Countess of Bedford, was not just a leading lady and ‘beautiful ornament’ at the court of James I and Anna of Denmark. She produced and performed in several court masques, she was a poet, a letter writer and patron of Ben Jonson, John Dowland and John Donne. For this concert, Lucy (Nadia Piave) will be our presenter – she has taken temporary leave from her rigorous masque rehearsals at the heavenly Court of Anna to give us a brief moment of her valuable time. We will romp through her life with music by her contemporaries: Anthony Holborne, John Dowland, Orlando Gibbons, John Jenkins and new works by Brooke Green.
