Please note that Josie and the Emeralds’ concert originally advertised for Saturday 23 March, 4pm at Glebe Town Hall will now begin at 5pm, at St Johns Church, Glebe, corner of St Johns Rd and Glebe Point Rd. This is a short walk from Glebe Town Hall.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience but this is due to circumstances outside our control.

The concert will be presented without an interval and will end at about 6pm.

If you have already purchased a ticket and this new time is no longer convenient to you, please send me an email and I will arrange to reimburse you.

But for those of you who can still come, we look forward to seeing you and very much value your support. Of course, you are in for a treat with some beautiful music!

A Merry Emerald Christmas

As 2012 rapidly fades into the emerald past, and we have survived the end of the Mayan calendar, we thought we would take the opportunity to share this little encore from our 2011 Christmas concert (please click on the above link).
We are taking requests for arrangements for a Christmassy encore for 2013….

Our next concert delves deeply into the music of the mercurial Mr Gibbons: at times melancholy, contemplative, serene, beautiful and always dramatic. The six-part Fantasias for viols are masterpieces of the genre and we’re performing all of them. Our fabulous soprano Josie Ryan will be featured in some of his Motets and Madrigals for Voices and Viols, to mark the 400th anniversary of their publication. These include “The Silver Swan,” Walter Raleigh’s “What is our Life?” and John Donne’s “Ah, dear heart,why do you rise?”

The second half the concert features contemporary works by Australian composers including Elena Kats-Chernin and new works by Brooke Green.

Sunday 18 November, 3pm
